L2 Speech Research
Downloading articles and chapters
Here you can download published research that was supported by grants from the
National Institutes of Health by myself and collaborators. All files are in PDF format,
for which you'll need a recent revison of the Adobe Reader.
The material has been divided into 6 sections. The first section contains research
published in an edited book. Journal articles have been grouped according to year of
publication. The final section contains research published in the proceedings of a
conference.
Dialog and discussion
It is possible to make observations, suggestions, or criticisms regarding the
research available for downloading here. Or, better still: inform me and others of
more recent related findings or studies which have gone beyond or in some way
extended one of our studies.
You can find comments already offered by clicking on "Comments by JEF and
others" that follow the citations of individual chapters or articles. I myself will be
adding comments as I post materials to this site.
Users of the site who wish to add their own comments are asked to send a carefully
edited version of what they'd like to say to info@jimflege.com. The text should contain
your name, e-mail address and academic affiliation. I will insert the entire text without
any editing at the bottom of the existing "comments" text (or else start a text if one
doesn't already exist.
There is no obligation for you to agree with me or to accept my point of view. The only
requirement for inclusion is to say something interesting that serves to move the
discussion along. However, please be aware that once you've send me something it
becomes "public domain" inasmuch as it will be read by others working in the field of
L2 speech research.
Also, please remember that I'm retired now. I will try to add your comments as soon
as possible, but I'm not making any promises regarding speed.
